Many still don’t have voter ID card

Visakhapatnam: Official figures of transgender voters, who have mentioned “other” as their sex, in the three parliamentary constituencies of Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle and Araku stand at 247.
Unofficial figures however go up to 2,000. Visakhapatnam parliamentary and Vizag North Assembly constituency have the highest number of
transgender voters with the figures of 163 and 49 respectively.
Gajuwaka and Vizag West Assembly constituencies follow with 30 and 28 transgender voters respectively. Low number of transgender voters is because more than 50 percent of them don’t have voter ID cards and most of those who have, have not registered as “others”.
