Priyanka steps in to stop Narendra Modi wave
New Delhi/ Lucknow : Emerging as the main face of the Congress, Priyanka Gandhi on Friday yet again targeted BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi’s Gujarat model and claimed that “thousands of acres” of land have been given to his “friends at a throwaway price.”
However, in a larger scenario with Priayanka leading the charge, the Congress which had initially fell into the saffron trap of “reacting and defending” rather than attacking has somewhat been able to turn the table on its rivals. The BJP is now finding itself defending and reacting to Priyanka’s barbs.
Some viewed this as Priyanka’s retort to BJP’s attempt to ‘malign’ her husband Robert Vadra on his land deals in Haryana.
Adopting a pro-active role Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is now likely to visit Varanasi between May 8 to May10 to seek blessings of Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman. Speculations are rife that she could also take a holy dip in Ganga. Some Congress functionaries claimed that her visit to the temple city, would be ‘apolitical.’ It was, however, felt that if Priyanka went to the temples in Varanasi, she would be playing the ‘soft Hindutva card.’
Speaking at Rae Bareli, Priyanka accused Mr Modi of treating the country as a “classroom”. Countering Mr Modi’s barbs, she derided the BJP’s PM candidate for his ‘RSVP’ (Rahul, Sonia, Vadra and Priyanka) remark.
Modi had recently described UPA’s governance as “RSVP model”. He had also attacked Congress saying ‘ABCD’ has become a symbol of graft by the Congress.
“ABCD, RSVP kya hai? Kabhi ABCD, kabhi RSVP. Aur kabhi da se desh aur ka se kauva. Ba se bandh bhi to kariye. You are not addressing a primary school where you can teach alphabets. You are addressing the nation,” Priyanka said.
