Mumbai: Bollywood actor Inder Kumar will be with the police custody till April 30. Both, Inder and the victim will be interrogated properly as Inder claims it to be consensual. Inder also said that he and his wife had gone to Versova police station, on April 24, as his wife had complaint about his extramaritial affair.
Bandra court has ordered police custody for Inder Kumar till April 30 and the victim too will be interrogated.
Bollywood actor Inder Kumar Saraf was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping and assaulting a 23-year-old model on the pretext of getting her roles in movies, police said. The woman claimed that she was led on by the actor who promised her plum roles in Bollywood and in the course of time exploited her.
According to police, the victim was called to the actor's residence in suburban Andheri last evening when he hit her with a beer bottle. The victim also alleged she had been sexually assaulted by Inder Kumar who had promised to give her lead roles in Bollywood films.
According to the statement of the woman, he asked her to stay with him in his Versova flat and assured her of roles. The girl has now been sent for a medical test at Cooper Hospital and Inder Kumar is at the police station.
Inder Kumar made his debut in 'Masoom'. According to reports, a police officer from Versova station said, "This seems to be a case of the casting couch. We have booked Inder Kumar for rape under section 376 and 506 for criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code".
On Thursday evening, Kumar and his wife Pallavi had a major fight. After the argument, she went to the Versova police station and complained against Kumar.
“Pallavi also complained that she suspected Kumar of having a relationship with another woman,” said a police officer according to reports.
Inder Kumar was quoted saying, “The girl is a struggler and not to be given any importance. I was on 'hi and bye' terms with her. In fact she and my wife Pallavi had a big fight. I have sorted things out with my wife and she is with me. The girl has gone and filed a complaint, but what she is saying is untrue.”
