No Modi wave, it’s a media creation: PM

Prime Minister also denied that the Congress was losing ground

Guwahati: In what may be the most expensive vote in the country, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday flew down to Guwahati in a special aircraft to cast his vote for the Lok Sabha polls.

Dr Singh, who then flew in an Army helicopter to reach the polling station at Dispur HS School, where he and his wife Gursharan Kaur are registered voters of Gauhati Lok Sabha seat, told reporters: “There is no Modi wave in the country, it is only the creation of the media.”

Emerging from the polling booth, Dr Singh also denied that the Congress was losing ground. “I don’t think the Congress is losing ground. We should wait for the counting of votes,” he said.

Dr Singh, who was greeted by Assam CM Tarun Gogoi as his helicopter landed at Khanapara playground, said: “I have come to Guwahati to exercise my right as a citizen of this great country. I am confident that the democratic process of the country is firmly established.”

Earlier, the school where Dr Singh cast his vote turned into a virtual fortress as voters registered there had to go through frisking for the Prime Minister’s
security.
