Adithya Aadhi is proving a point
I have the talent and I just want a platform to prove it, says Adithya
Kochi: Adithya Aadhi was the lead in two Tamil films — Thoothuvan, which was a success and turned the tide in his favour, as well as Solla Matten, an investigative thriller. Currently, he is doing a Tamil film called Chithirapuram and three Malayalam films Thaarangal, On FB and Salt Mango Tree.
It’s ironic that though Adithya is a Malayali who wanted to debut in his mother tongue and find success in Mollywood, it was Kollywood that gave him fame and a name. On FB directed by Riyaz will see Adithya in three different getups and he is thrilled about the challenge in front of him. Incidentally, Adithya had acted in an earlier Riyaz scripted film titled Signal.
Adithya is a singer, dancer and writer and has been a music teacher in Thrissur for two years. Adithya’s replies about his late entry into films prove that he walks a different path. This is no coy actor hiding behind veils of diplomacy or sugar-coated words. He is as frank as can be!
Adithya explains, “I have no godfathers in the industry. I made countless rounds of directors’ offices and begged for roles. I have done around 25 screen tests for directors in Malayalam. I have been informed that I was selected as the hero after which I would get a call asking for 10 lakhs for finalising me. If I was agreeable to such terms, I would have done around 15 films by now. It is not my lack of talent but my decision to not pay up that has relegated me to the sidelines. In cinema, one needs a substantially big money backup.” He adds that Kollywood also has such demands but on a much smaller scale.
The actor, who has been disillusioned by such unreasonable demands, says, “It is a fact that it is not talent but money that can make you a hero here! I feel happy that I have a chair in the Tamil film industry which is by no means a small chair. I also have the blessings of a lot of people including my gurus and that belief keeps me going. I am getting lots of enquiries from the Tamil industry because people believe in talent there.”
Adithya is very passionate about acting in Malayalam films and emphasises, “I have the talent and I just want a platform to prove it. If actors do not get opportunities, there will be no hero, just a zero!” He counts his parents’ support as the biggest blessing in his journey.
