Indo-Canadian film 'Siddharth' won the Tiantan award for best feature film
Beijing: Director Richie Mehta's Indo-Canadian film 'Siddharth' won the Tiantan award for best feature film at the 4th Beijing international film festival.
Mehta, a Canadian director of Indian origin, got inspired to make the film after meeting a man on the streets of Delhi who was searching for his missing son.
Rajesh Tailang and Tannishtha Chatterjee play leading role in the film which revolves around Mahendra, a chainwala, who is happy to find work for his 12-year-old son but his happiness turns into a nightmare when his son fails to return home.
The best director award went to Wong Kar-Wai for his martial arts drama 'The Grandmaster'. The film is based on the life of Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man. 'The Grandmaster' premiered at the 63rd Berlin film festival as the opening movie.
French actor Guillaume Gouix won the best actor award for 'Attila Marcel', which also took home the award for best music.
Zhang Ziyi was named the best actress for her work in 'The Grandmaster'. The film also won in the cinematography category.
Re Lee was named the best supporting actress for 'Hope' and Alan Rickman was declared the best supporting actor for his role in 'A Promise'.
Australian film 'The Rocket' was honoured for best visual effects
Best screenplay trophy went to Zhou Zhiyong, Zhang Ji and Lin Aihua for 'American Dreams in China'.
