Khammam: Stating that there is no difference between the BJP and the Congress, CPI (M) politburo member Sitaram Yechury said the country needs an alternative to the two, which only the third front can provide.
Addressing a meeting here on Wednesday, he wondered why BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was contesting from two co-nstituencies when he was capable of creating tsunami in the country.
Mr Yechuri also added that the tsunami created by Mr Modi would do nothing but devastate the country. “Moreover, why is Mr Modi after Varanasi LS seat when he has developed Gujarat?” Mr Yechuri said.
Stating that both the BJP and the Congress are two sides of a coin having identical economical policies, Mr Yechury emphasised the need of a third front to give people an ideal administration.
Referring to the TD-BJP pre-poll alliance, Mr Yechury said it would only keep N. Chandrababu Naidu in the opposition for another 10 years.
He expressed confidence in a third front formed after the elections.
Commenting on local issues, he assured people that his party would oppose merger of seven mandals, which would submerge in the backwaters of Polavaram project, with residuary AP.
