PG medical scam: 11 arrested

All the accused are doctors and brokers

Hyderabad: The Crime Investigation Department on Tuesday arrested 11 more persons for their involvement in the PG medical entrance question paper leak scam. All these accused are doctors and brokers.

The accused were arrested from Mumbai, Goa, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

The arrested brokers were identified as Gadde Rambabu, Shakeel Ahmed and Shiva Prasad Ankegowda. The arrested doctors are G. Krishna Karthik (Rank: 31), Kaja Neela Harika (Rank: 54), Radha Reddy Shyamala, Keerthi Chowdary (Rank: 79), Lanka Prathyusha (Rank: 80), Phaneeshri Alaparthi (Rank: 94), Bharath Chandra (Rank: 110), Shaik Hussain Basha (Rank: 263).

CID additional DG T. Krishna Prasad said, “One of the accused, Ameer Ahmed, who was earlier involved in a similar case in Bengaluru, along with one Rajagopal Reddy had hatched the plan to get question papers being printed at Manipal Technologies Ltd. Most of the important entrance exam papers are printed in this press,”

Ameer inducted his associate Praveen into the press as a casual labourer in November, 2013. “They were able to get the PGMET-2014 paper on February 18, 2014,” said the CID chief.

Ameer then got in touch with one Paulson and through him, met Anuj Kumar Singh. Anuj contacted one Suresh Babu. Suresh engaged Dr Avinash to prepare the key to the question paper.
