Visakhapatnam: While actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan shared the dais with Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at various meetings in Telangana and praised him to the sky, his elder brother and Congress Campaign Committee chief in Andhra Pradesh K. Chiranjeevi, on the other hand, criticised Mr Modi in Vizag.
“Modi is a threat to the secular fabric of the country. He neither explained the circumstances that led to the Gujarat riots of 2002 nor apologised for the same. He is responsible for those riots. How can the BJP justify picking him as their prime ministerial candidate. He becoming the PM is not good for the country,” Mr Chiranjeevi said at an election campaign in Gajuwaka here on Tuesday.
Further sharpening his attack on the BJP, he said the era of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani has gone and an era of Modi and Adani has begun. He accused the BJP of playing “Corporate Politics”.
Mr Chiranjeevi did not spare YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu either.
He said Mr Naidu was like Ghajini and forgets everything what happened in the past.
“Naidu can’t fight polls without allies. He is like Ghajini and forgets everything that happened in the past. He is out on the streets giving false promises of development and deceiving public. Jagan wants to come to power with the wealth he amassed through corrupt means. It’s last polls for both Jagan and Naidu,” he said.
Meanwhile Chiranjeevi drew flak in Gajuwaka, where local party workers, who were disgruntled with the party's Gajuwaka segment nominee, film actor, a non local, Sudhakar Naidu (GV), raised slogans against him.
They interrupted his speech for more than 20 minutes. Local party workers are of the opinion that Chiranjeevi was instrumental in securing party ticket for GV, who doesn't have any connection or affiliation with the constituency. They have openly expressed their displeasure in many occasions earlier after Congress announced its AP assembly candidates.
