Trisha’s my all time crush: Vaibhav Reddy

Chennai: Though Vaibhav Reddy debuted in films with the Telugu film, Godava, helmed by A. Kodanda Rami Reddy, his father and a noted filmmaker there; he was yet to carve a niche for himself in Kollywood. After essaying numerous second lead characters and ‘one among many heroes’ roles, in K-Town, Damaal Dumeel, starring the actor in a lead role for the first time in Tamil, has opened to encouraging response.
Vaibhav says, “The response has been promising and better then expected. I watched the movie with the audience at INOX in Madurai and am upbeat over the feedback. My next, Kappal, helmed by Karthik Krish, a former associate of Shankar, is in its final stages. The movie is likely to hit the screens in June. Kappal is a RomCom which will has me portraying a village guy who goes to the city and gets mired in myriad woes.”
Meanwhile, Nee Enge En Anbe, the long awaited project which has Nayantara reprising Vidya Balan’s role from Kahaani, is expected to release on May 1. Vaibhav, who will be seen in a meaty role in the bilingual flick directed by Tollywood filmmaker Sekhar Kammula, is excited to be a part of the film.
He shares, “Nayantara is a thorough professional. The way she handles fame, success and failures is commendable. Working with such an experienced actress helped me.” Vaibhav reminisces that in his early stage of his career, he had a similar opportunity to act alongside an experienced Sneha in the crucial scenes of Goa.
The actor, who is still in awe of Ajith is keen on working with Superstar Rajinikanth and Vijay. He wishes to be directed by veterans like Mani Ratnam, as well as youngsters like Karthik Subbaraj, and of course his mentor-and-friend Venkat Prabhu. The actor who has a long list of friends in the industry like Simbu, Jai, Venkat Prabhu, Jayam Ravi and Arya, affirms that he is open to any kind of role and that he hasn’t thought about a dream role.
Vaibhav quips that being born in a filmi family helped him learn the basic nuances of film industry, and that he is aiming at characters and films which would cater to both Tamil and Telugu audiences.
Is he dating someone? Pat comes the reply, “No. It requires great patience to be in a relationship. I don’t think I have it,” he says in an passive manner.
He says that he is most comfortable with Anjali as a co-star; and shares that Trisha is his all time crush. He adds, “I have told her so several times. She simply flashes a smile whenever I say it.”
