Now, scanners on your android smartphones
How many times do you just want a scanner, but find your current repertoire of hardware simply lacking in this respect? So, you might ask yourself: if my smartphone really does have a camera, why can’t there be a smarter, more automated way to scan documents properly.
With Android apps like CamScanner and Microsoft-sponsored research initiatives like the Windows Phone app, Office Lens, you need only take a photograph of the document you need scanned. The app takes care of most of the settings in question, and moreover, the results post-processing of the image taken are usually spectacular. Images taken from a weird, trapezoidal perspective are processed, remapped and turned into proper rectangles, straight and well lit.
With these apps, it’s more than possible to apply this methodology to other written things: stuff like blackboards in college, screens on TVs and monitors. The apps even have currently in progress limited support for handwriting and text recognition, which is just fabulous.
