Employees’ JAC divided for polls
Rajahmundry: The employees’ JAC, with 80,000-strong membership, took part in Samaikyandhra stir for more than 70 days under one umbrella in East Godavari, as per the directive of its state body.
However, there seems to be a division among the employees supporting different political parties now.
According to sources, the leaders and members of the JAC were divided into three groups, some supporting the TD, some backing the YSRC and the rest sailing with the JSP. The notable aspect is that the entire agitation went on during the tenure of the then chief minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and the founder of JSP.
According to East Godavari CPM general secretary Dadala Subba Rao, senior NGO leaders Purnachandra Rao and Achanta Rama Naidu, who had retired from service, wanted the JAC to extend full support to the TD.
"We, as alliance partner of the JSP, expected the support to the new outfit. But it was not to be. Current leader G. Ashok Babu did not give any such call, as he is still in service,” he said.
