Tepid response to Nandamuri Balakrishnan meeting
SRIKAKULAM: Actor and TD leader Nandamuri Balakrishna’s election campaign received average response from the people on Monday in Srikakulam.
Mr Balakrishna flew to Visakhapatnam in the morning and reached Srikakulam by road and started his road show and public meeting at Saravakota mandal centre at 11.20 am. He covered Polaki, Thalasamudram, Urlam and Narasannapeta town in the Narasannapeta segment and later reached Kollivalasa in Amudalavalasa segment followed by a road show in Srikakulam.
As a result of a communication gap between the TD leaders and cadres regarding Mr Balakrishna’s tour, they failed to gather large crowd for his road shows. The TD leaders had not given clear instructions about the tour schedule till late on Sunday night. In addition, Mr Balakrishna reached an hour before the scheduled time.
According to the party schedule, Balayya was to reach Polaki mandal centre at 1 pm but he reached by 11.50 am, as a result of which the cadres failed to gather a crowd.
Balayya meanwhile confined his speeches only on the TD election assurances and did not deliver any punch dialogues to attract people.
He read out all assurances that were mentioned in the party election manifesto by often referring to a small slip of paper.
He assured to provide 20 litres of pure drinking water for Rs 2, construction of houses for poor families with Rs 1.50 lakh, waiver of loans for women’s self-help groups, 9-hours-a-day power to crops, toll free number for women’s protection and a price standardisation fund with Rs 5,000 crore.
Telugu Desam Srikakulam Parliament candidate, K. Rammohan Naidu and Narasannapeta Telugu Desam candidate, B. Ramana Murthy and other leaders accompanied Mr Balakrishna.
