Chetan Hansraj loves to play the ‘bad guy’
There’s so much to do when you play the baddie,” he says
Mumbai: He’s been the small screen’s favourite bad guy for a while now. And Chetan Hansraj is delighted about it.
“There’s so much to do when you play the baddie,” he says. “I’d rather show off my acting skills through these roles than play a sweet, simple, saintly guy who has nothing much to do in the show,” says Chetan.
At the moment, Chetan’s showing off his grey shades as Adam Khan in Jodha Akbar and Encounter, in which he plays a gangster called Mangya.
“Mangya is a wild, crazy guy. He starts out as a pickpocket and then becomes a gangster. He is psychotic and killing excites him,” says Chetan, who’s very excited to play this character.
“We shot a chase scene on a boat and that is one of the best sequences I have performed till date,” he adds. Incidentally, the actor is a fan of real life-inspired crime shows and watches Crime Patrol, he says.
As for the other role that’s keeping him busy, Chetan says playing Adam Khan is almost second nature to him now. “It’s been a year since the show started, so I’ve had a lot of time to get used to the character,” he points out. Fans’ reactions, however, continue to surprise this reel-life-baddie and real-life-good guy.
“The response has been superb,” Chetan says, unable to hold back a grin. “So many children come up to me, wanting to shake hands… it feels wonderful.”
