Debutant Tejus Kancherla talks about a movie that’s planning to go after the moviegoers’ tastebuds
Hyderabad: Tollywood is all set to get a new face as the lead. Tejus Kancherla is gearing up for his debut film, Ulavacharu Biryani, directed by Prakash Raj.
Tejus feels that people’s perception of Prakash Raj (in trouble for unruly behaviour) is not right.
“When I met him for the first time, I also had the impression in the back of my mind that he was moody and tough to deal with. But it was just the opposite; he was chilled out. I have learnt a lot from him and feel that he is an educational institution who is also a close family member now. We completed the movie in three languages, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada in just 58 days only because Prakash sir knew exactly how he wanted each scene,” he says.
Tejus adds, “I had been struggling for over two years and I have finally hit the jackpot with this movie. I hail from a non-filmi background. My dad is an industrialist and mom is a housewife. Initially, they were a bit apprehensive about me getting into acting, but then they supported my passion. And being from a non-filmi background, I had to be patient.”
Currently, he is focussing more on ‘acting’ than just building a body. “I feel that the body just adds to the look of the hero, but the substance is always acting and that’s my priority.”
The movie focuses on food and Tejus says that he has always been a big foodie. “I love to explore a variety of cuisines. But no, I don’t cook. I just do the eating. The maximum I can cook is maybe an omelette and Maggi (laughs).”
