If you haven't seen '2 States', here's why you need to catch it

Just 3 days old, '2 States' has already been declared a superhit

Mumbai: Only 3 days old, '2 States' has already been declared a hit. Director Abhishek Verman, as a debutant has done a great job in projecting the 2 worlds, Punjabi culture and Tamilian traits, with ease on screen. Here are the things that you will be talking about after walking out of the theaters.

Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt

All the rumours of them dating each other don’t count to fabulous chemistry onscreen. If that was the case, Saif and Kareena starrers too would have got mentions, the way Alia and Arjun have been garnering praises for their onscreen chemistry. Right from the first scene in the canteen of IIM Ahmedabad, the dimensions of their onscreen characters only gets better and better.

Arjun kapoor and Amrita Singh

Amrita Singh is the surprise package of the film and the mother-son interactions are treated so apt. Full marks also to the actors who got the scenes bang on with Abhishek not allowing Arjun to go overboard and controlling the unnecessary outbursts, which was evident in the actors earlier films. Amrita Singh doesn't let the film collapse despite it being lengthy in the second half.

Tamilian parents

Alia's parents (Shiv Kumar Subramaniamake and Revathy) make way for the best casting as none of them pretend to behave in a caricature or a stereotype manner of the language they portray on screen. Infact, both blend so well onscreen that their performance builds a new world within the love space of Arjun and Alia. Arjun's scenes with Alia's father too brings out the best in the actor.

Ronit Roy

After ‘Udaan,’ Ronit plays a difficult role of a father again, who is hated by his son. With limited scenes, he holds the story throughout the film and brings a huge teary smile towards the end. It is difficult to digest how Ronit, once the only son of all the mothers through his ‘Mihir’ avatar, manages to play the negative shades with so much ease.

Background music

With the best of performances and good screenplay, filmmaking skills are put to test, to add perfect background music to bring life to a scene. Abhishek Verman has paid very close attention to background music, which brings out the right mood in scenes that take the film ahead.
