Metro rail project expedited: Jayalalithaa
Chennai: Asserting that the Chennai metro rail project has been expedited to benefit the people, chief minister J. Jayalalithaa said once completed, it will significantly improve the connectivity in the city.
“You will have access to all important places in the city. You will get additional benefits if you elect our party candidate V. N. P. Venkataraman in the by-elections,” chief minister addressing a rally in Nanganallur here on Saturday said.
The AIADMK supremo who kickedstarted her campaign in the city at Alandur assured to provide more benefits for the residents if they elected the AIADMK candidate in the April 24 election.
Listing out various welfare schemes being implemented by her government in the State, including cost-free rice under PDS and laptops for students, she said if the voters of Alandur Constituency elected Venkataraman it would enable the party to bring greater benefits to them, including Central Schemes besides expediting the railway projects.
She also called upon voters to elect AIADMK’s K N Ramachandran who is contesting from the Sriperumbudur Lok Sabha Constituency under which Alandur was included. The by-poll to the Alandur Assembly Constituency has been necessitated following the resignation of Panrutti Ramachandran who after quit the DMDK and joined the AIADMK.
