Election Commission issues notice to Head of Departments on poll duty

Hyderabad: Hyderabad district election officer Somesh Kumar has issued show cause notice to officials heading government departments for not relieving their staff to discharge their statutory duties as polling personnel as per the rules of the Election Commission of India.

The DEO Hyderabad arranged training classes on April 17 and April 19 at eight training centres for Other Polling Officers (OPO) i.e., other than Presiding and Assistant Presiding Officers so that all polling staff have first hand knowledge of their duties on the 29th and 30th of April (Day of polling).

However, some of the OPOs did not attend the training on April 17. They are instructed to attend on April 19 either at 10 am or 2 pm at their respective centres.
