BJP-TDP alliance: All’s well after BJP pats Chandrababu Naidu’s back
Hyderabad: TD chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday achieved his purpose of demonstrating his importance to the BJP scheme of things, with the national party rushing to make amends after his threat on Thursday to end the alliance.
In a scenario where every seat could matter at the end, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi personally intervened to sort out the row over his party fielding weak candidates in Seemandhra. At the end of the day, the BJP made peace by conceding an Assembly seat and changing its candidates in three more.
The resumption of the alliance was announced to the media by TD and BJP leaders at the residence of Mr Naidu, following marathon consultations throughout the day. Interestingly, Mr Naidu did not participate in the press conference, having left for the election campaign by then.
While the BJP surrendered the Itchapuram Assembly seat to the TD, it agreed to change its candidates at Narsaraopet, Rajahmundry Urban and Guntakal.
