Google’s Modular Ara smartphone on sale in January 2015
Firstly, Google’s modular phone project, which took off a while ago, helps users customize their phones the way they would like it to. Sadly, the developer conference held by the tech giant revealed that the device wouldn't go on sale any soon, but should be expected by January 2015.
9to5Google reported that developers would be able to get their hands on the first smartphones before 2015, however, Google has not confirmed any dates as yet.
Google revealed earlier that the modular handset would be held together using electro-permanent magnets, and customization options will include 3D-printed textures.
Google claims that the Ara modular phone should last you at least five or six years since you would only upgrade the necessary components. This would be similar to a regular desktop PC, where only the required components need to be upgraded, while the rest stays the same.
