Apple plans to increase iPhone 6 prices by $100
Jefferies analyst Peter Misek says, "Our checks indicate Apple has started negotiating with carriers on a $100 iPhone 6 price increase. The initial response has been no, but there seems to be an admission that there is no other game-changing device this year."
Business Insider reports that carriers may bow down and let Apple have their way with the price hike. It seems rather strange that while rivals cutting down on prices, Apple is heading the other way.
However, Apple is set to launch two new phones, one with a 4.7-inch display and the other with a 5.5-inch display, which is also its first phablet. On the other hand, in an internal presentation last year, people around the world wanted a cheaper iPhone with bigger screens. Apple believes that it will not be susceptible to Android’s pricing pressure and also believes that an Apple fan would buy the iPhone even if he had to pay $100 more.
Apple also thinks that the $100 price difference would not make or break the success of the bigger phone, but would only increase the income for the increasing costs.
