Amol palekar, Bihar DGP couldn’t find their name in voters’ list

Hundreds of angry voters demonstrated before the Pune collector’s office after finding their names missing

Pune/Patna: Hundreds of angry voters demonstrated before the Pune collector’s office on Thursday after finding their names missing from the voters’ lists in the city.

A large number of people, who had exercised their franchise in previous elections, complained that they had to return disappointed without casting their vote because of anomalies in electoral rolls.

While district collector Saurabh Rao tried to pacify agitated citizens, assuring that he would discuss the matter with top election officials in Delhi, BJP candidate Anil Shirole alleged that the state administrative machinery was involved in a “conspiracy” with the ruling Congress-NCP combine to delete the names of thousands of voters considered to be traditional BJP supporters.

Among those who could not cast their votes included noted actor Amol Palekar. The city also witnessed an enthusiastic line up by first time voters at polling stations since early morning.

Meanwhile, in Patna, Bihar DGP Abhyanand could not cast his vote as his name did not figure in the voters list.

“My name is not in voters list hence I am not able to exercise my franchise,” Mr Abhyanand said.

He said the same had happened last time also.

The DGP said that due to work pressure he could not do the running around to get his name included in the voters list so that he can cast ballot.
