After launching Abhay Deol in his directorial debut Socha Na Tha, Imtiaz Ali is now gearing up to launch yet another Deol. Rumour has it that last month Dharamendra had a meeting with Imtiaz where the two discussed a plan to create a perfect launch pad for Sunny Deol’s elder son Karan Deol.
“Imtiaz had started his career with a film that was produced by the Deols. He has been an ardent fan of Dharmendra and has great respect for him and his family. Imtiaz was more than happy to meet Dharmendra and Sunny. He has been working on a script for Karan’s debut film. But they are yet to take a call if Imtiaz will direct the film or not, although it seems he has a good chance,” says our source
Until a while ago Sunny was unsure about who would be hand over the mantle to direct his son’s debut film. Raj Kumar Santoshi and Anil Sharma’s name were tossed around for a while. But the Deols seem to be gradually inching towards Imtiaz.
“Imtiaz has a great script sense and has churned out hit films like Socha Na Tha, Rockstar, Highway, Love Aaj Kal and Jab We Met. He is now looking forward to launching Karan and he is one of the top contenders for the responsibility,” adds the source.
