Supreme Court reveals N. Srinivasan name in IPL Dirty 13
SC court bench said Srinivasan had known of all the charges made by the Mudgal Committee
New Delhi: In seeking to clear his name and have himself reinstated as president of the BCCI, N. Srinivasan not only had his plea before the Supreme Court thrown out, but also found himself named as being on a list of 13 persons facing corruption allegations related to the IPL.
Rejecting Mr Srinivasan’s plea filed on Tuesday, a Supreme Court bench said that he had known, but not taken seriously, charges made by the Justice Mukul Mudgal committee that was asked to probe the allegations of spot-fixing and illegal betting related to the IPL.
“We cannot close our eyes after coming to know about the allegations,” Justice A.K. Patnaik said, adding that the court wanted the BCCI itself to handle a probe into the allegations.
“It (Mudgal report) said all the allegations were brought to his (Srinivasan’s) notice, but he didn’t take any action. That means he was aware about the allegations and did not take it seriously,” Justice Patnaik said. The bench, that also includes Justice F.M. Ibrahim Kalifulla, has set April 22 as the next date of hearing.
