Channing Tatum reveals 'X-Men' talks for Gambit role

Actor has entered discussions with the producers of 'X-Men'
Los Angeles: Actor Channing Tatum has entered discussions with the producers of 'X-Men' about playing the role of Gambit. The 33-year-old '21 Jump Street' star has confirmed meeting the film's producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who had earlier revealed that she wanted the actor to play the Cajun mutant for a solo film, reported MTV news.
"I met with Lauren Shuler Donner. And I would love it.
Gambit is really the only X-Man I've ever loved. I mean I've
loved them all. They're all great. I just related to him. He's just kind of suave," Tatum said.
"He's the most un X-Men X-Man that's ever been in 'X-Men'. Other than maybe Wolverine, who's like the anti-hero. I hope it (comes together). You never know it's a weird industry. If the stars align, I would die to play it. I'm already working
on the accent," he added.
Gambit is a Cajun card player who first appeared in 'X-Men' cinematic universe through 2009's 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'. His alter ego, Remy LeBeau, was initially set to be played by Tatum in 2006's 'X-Men: The Last Stand', but the character was cut off from the storyline.
