Srinivasan questions Supreme Court
Suspended BCCI boss decries Top Court diktat in affidavit
New Delhi: Suspended Board of Control for Cricket in India president N. Srinivasan filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on Tuesday questioning the rationale behind its order directing his removal from the post and asking the court to reconsider its verdict so that he could continue in office till his tenure ended in September.
“I am highly aggrieved by the unfair and unsubstantiated allegations made against me in the course of hearing of the above matter on 27-03-2014. Further, I am personally not aware of the reason why this Honourable Court orally expressed that I should not continue as president of BCCI,” Srinivasan said in his affidavit. “I humbly request this Honourable court to reconsider the interim order passed 28-03-2014 in so far as it relates to my elected office. My term ends with Sept 2014 and I should be allowed to complete my tenure.”
In the affidavit filed as a response to the allegations levelled by the Bihar Cricket Association and adverse remarks made by the apex court, Srinivasan claimed that he never interfered with disciplinary proceedings or criminal investigations against his son in law. Srinivasan said he never made any offer to step aside as the board president and a proposal in this regard was given by the BCCI on March 27. He also countered the allegations that he influenced the investigation. Srinivasan also said the Mudgal Committee report incorrectly concluded his statement that Meiyappan was a “mere cricket enthusiast” and he (Meiyappan) was the “public face” of CSK.
