KCR: Will follow Tamil Nadu in reservations to Muslims

We honour the aspirations of Telangana people: K. Chandrasekhar Rao

Nizamabad: Clarifying the 12 per cent reservations for Muslims, TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao said the Telangana state will follow the lines of Tamil Nadu state and provide 12 per cent reservations.

There are apprehensions about the 12 per cent reservations to the Muslims, as the court has already raised objections with regard to four per cent reservations, he said while addressing an election campaign meeting near Girraj Government College here on Tuesday night.

Constitution approves only 50 per cent reservations, but the Tamil Nadu government extended it to 70 per cent with the provisions of legislature. He quoted Mahatma Gandhi who had appreciated the communal harmony in the erstwhile Nizam regime during his visit to Hyderabad in 1927.

He said that there is no place for communal forces in new state. Mr Rao called upon the people to support the TRS in forming the government in the Telangana state.

“Almost 3.5 crore Telangana people are our high command and we will understand and honour the aspirations of the people,” he said.

“The voters should exercise their franchise and vote for the TRS candidates only in both the MP and MLA elections,” he said, adding that all the 17 MP seats in Telangana should be won by the TRS which will help in demanding a fair share for the new state from the Centre.

Mr Rao promised an “employee friendly” government in the state. He reiterated that a special increment will be given to the employees and transfers will be enforced once in three years.

He said that there will be no contract employee in the state and a committee will be constituted to study and prepare job chart for regularising contract employees.

The TRS chief came down heavily on the Congress leaders, and challenged TPPC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah to conduct a debate on injustice done to the Telangana region in the last five decades.

He predicted that the Congress will not come to power at the Centre nor in the state.

TRS Nizamabad, Zaheerabad MP candidates K. Kavitha, B.B. Rao Patel, MLA candidates, party district unit president Eega Ganga Reddy, senior leader A.S. Poshetty and others were present.

The TRS chief said that past glory of Nizamabad district will be revived after the TRS comes to power.

Krishna river water will be supplied to the twin cities and Singur reservoir will be used for irrigation needs of Nizamabad district.

He said that tax will be exempted on tractors from June 2 onwards in the new state.

He also said that irrigation facilities in Nizamabad district will give utmost importance.

Nizam Sugars, and Nizamabad Cooperative Sugar Factory will be developed on the same lines, he assured.
