Former fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad wants Indian coaches

Prasad felt that it is a myth that all foreign coaches are better

Mumbai: Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad has urged Indian Premier League franchises to have a look at having Indian coaches as part of the team management. Prasad felt that it is a myth that all foreign coaches are better. He also expressed disappointment after missing out being part of the IPL for the first time.

“It is disappointing in a way because it is something where I feel every franchise needs to be looking at having Indian coaches as part of their team management for a simple reason that only four foreign players can play in the playing XI and the remaining other seven are Indians. This is an IPL,” Prasad said on Monday.

“I is good to have a mix of foreign coaches, foreign players, because you are definitely going to improve your knowledge in the game but it is not that all foreigners are knowledgeable,” he added.
Prasad said he had seen many players and coaches in India who are better than foreigners. “I have seen so many players who are better than the foreign players. So many coaches in India who are better than the foreign coaches, who are part of the IPL set-up now. In that way it is disappointing to miss out but there is always a learning,” he said.

The UP coach who guided his team to Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 final is now looking forward to analyse things from away. “It is always good to just step back one step and then look at the scenario from outside and then learn a few more things, so that you are better as a coach and better as a person when you start doing this, hopefully from the next year onwards,” he said.

The Karnataka based Prasad has been part of RCB and CSK as bowling coach and he says the experience he got was “outstanding”.
