Modi wave and BJP wave same, says Rajnath Singh

BJP's Murli Manohar Joshi had said BJP wave rather than Modi wave

New Delhi: Hit by factionalism and a cold war waging within, the BJP got into damage-control mode on Monday after Murli Manohar Joshi’s remarks. Besides saying it was more a BJP wave than a Modi wave, Dr Joshi also said the Gujarat model could not be adopted in all parts of the country.

BJP chief Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley played down Dr Joshi’s remarks, saying there was no contradiction between the two. “No one has said anything like that. The BJP has presented Mr Modi as its PM candidate. In such a situation a BJP wave or a Modi wave cannot be viewed separately,” the party said.

Dr Joshi, who is contesting the Kanpur constituency, also clarified that there were no differences between him and Mr Modi. On the growth model debate, Dr Joshi said he had always maintained that India was a huge nation, with several climatic zones and agro-diversities, and there could be no single straitjacket model for the entire country.
