Hyderabad: Isolated rains, accompanied by hail, lashed some parts of the city on Monday evening. Though only 0.4 mm of rain was recorded, the temperature plummeted significantly by more than 2ºC.
Areas including Secunderabad, Malkajgiri, Moula Ali, Dilsukhnagar and others experienced scattered showers and even hail.
Met officials said this thunderstorm activity is a result of the two existing systems. “A trough of low pressure from Odisha to south Tamil Nadu across coastal AP and another upper air trough from Vidarbha to South Tamil Nadu across Telangana and Rayalaseema are leading to moisture incursion from Bay of Bengal,” said M. Narsimha Rao, the assistant meteorologist at the Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad.
Rains or thundershowers at isolated places in Telangana, Coastal Andhra, Rayalaseema and Hyderabad are expected over the next 24 hours.
