Scripts reign supreme for Aindrita Ray
Bangaluru: Thanks to a leading encyclopedia website, the beautiful Aindrita Ray celebrates her birthday twice a year! And this is what Aindrita has been repeating when somebody calls up to wish her for the past few years. Her actual birthday falls on April 16.
In a span of just six years, the cute actress has acted in at least 25 projects, majority of them in Sandalwood. She turns a year older and resolves to work in more meaningful films while staying single for another two years, at least.
“Most of my fans, misled by the encyclopedia website, call to wish me on April 4, and I have to tell them about my actual date of birth. This has been the exercise for a few years. My film Bhajarangi alongside Sandalwood King Shivarajkumar did really well and has successfully completed 100 days. It has been a wonderful year, as I am giving more importance to good scripts rather than just signing films which have less potential,” says Aindrita.
Her latest Athi Aparoopa alongside Lovely Star Prem, which released recently earned her a positive review despite the movie failing at the box office. Born to a Bengali family, the actress with the most expressive eyes says that she has not signed any movie after Bhajarangi, as she awaiting scripts with substance.
“I don’t want to settle for minor roles. I was never in the habit of signing a series of films just to show that I am busy throughout the year. Another reason, due to which I am yet to take up a new project is because of remuneration issues. I have hiked up my remuneration to some extent,” Aidrita says while hinting that the industry is male dominant and aimed at mass audiences and it should also give equal importance to actresses.
“As actresses, we are not even paid half of what the leading actors are paid in crores. Hence, it is one of the reason why I haven’t signed any films after Bhajarangi. I have listened to three interesting scripts and may approve them if everything goes accordingly,” she says.
Aindrita is presently working in Bengali, for a project which is a remake of the Kannada hit film Bachchan. On her Bengali venture, Aindrita is optimistic as for the first time she is acting in her mother tongue, which is a remake of a Kannada film.
“I always dreamt of working in a Bengali film, which is my mother-tongue. I thank Sandalwood as the Kannada version is now being made in Bengali, and I got an opportunity to be a part of it,” she says
With elections across the country, Aindrita was also seen campaigning in Chickballapur constituency. She shares that it was a great experience as she understood the basic ground realities of real politics and was overwhelmed with the love she received from her fans. Though, she’s certain that it is not her cup of tea!
With an open-relationship with the chocolate boy of Sandalwood, Diganth, Aindrita loves her freedom and her family the most. She also clears the air about her marriage — it is not on the cards for at least another two years.
With polling date on April 17, the actress has decided to execute her franchise and celebrate her birthday in town with close friends and family. And we are sure that one chocolate boy will surely be on her guest list!
