Jayalalithaa attacks BJP during Narendra Modi’s visit
CHENNAI: The chief minister asked if BJP’s allies in Tamil Nadu including MDMK chief Vaiko and PMK founder S Ramadoss, have got any guarantee on Cauvery release from BJP.
“In the past, we have only been betrayed by non-release of water from Cauvery. Those (TN parties) who had allied with BJP cannot solve this livelihood issue and they also know it. Have they decided it is all right if we don’t get water? If so, can there be a bigger betrayal?” she asked.
It was the first direct attack on the BJP by Jayalalithaa, that too on a day when Narendra Modi was in Chennai to meet superstar Rajinikanth and address an election rally.
Opposition parties have been questioning Jayalalithaa’s silence on the BJP in her poll rallies with Union finance minister P Chidambaram being in the forefront of this attack.
He had dubbed the AIADMK as BJP’s ‘B-team’ and claimed that voting for the AIADMK would only help the saffron party.
