DMK may be ‘C’ Team of BJP, says Chidambaram
Chennai: Unmindful of DMK’s offer of support, Union finance minister P. Chidambaram on Saturday cautioned that votes cast in favour of DMK would also go to the BJP.
Virtually rubbishing the secularism card played by Karunanidhi, Mr Chidambaram, campaigning for party candidates at Valluvar Kottam in the city, suspected that DMK may be the ‘C’ team of BJP. He said the BJP is ‘A’ team, AIADMK ‘B’ and DMK may be the ‘C’ team and therefore whichever team the people vote for would only go to the BJP.
He cautioned that if the BJP comes to power, further destroys Babri Masjid and constructs Ram temple, communal riots would erupt and it would also fuel terrorism. “I am warning you. That fire (violence) cannot be extinguished,” he remarked taking a dig at the BJP for trying to bring the uniform civil code in his hour-long campaign speech.
Unlike in his previous addresses, the finance minister spoke at length on BJP’s communal agenda to reiterate Congress commitment to secularism.
