Jayalalithaa suspects plot in power breakdowns
AIADMK supremo had taken steps to enhance the power generation to 12,000 MW
Tirunelveli : Chief minister J. Jayalalithaa suspects the frequent breakdowns reported at power stations in the state to be a plot to create a bad name for her party in the LS elections. She clarified that Tamil Nadu has enough power to meet its needs.Referring to the frequent load shedding in the districts for about four hours in her election campaign here on Friday, the AIADMK supremo said that during her 34 month governance, she had taken measures on a war footing and enhanced the total power generation to 12,000 MW; this was 8,000 MW during the DMK regime.
In order to ensure quality power supply, the state was procuring additional power from outside Tamil Nadu. “The present power cuts caused by frequent breakdowns at power stations make me suspect a political plot behind it.” “My government will definitely look into it seriously and take severe action against those who are behind these frequent breakdowns,” warned Jayalalithaa, who added that she had faced a similar artificially created power crisis during the mid term assembly poll for Yercaud in 2013.
“This kind of artificial power shortage was caused to turn the people’s wrath against the AIADMK.” The chief minister, however, did not mention any opposition party as behind the issue.
