Veteran rocker Nandu Bhende passes away
Sad day for music as Mumbai's original rock icon no more
Mumbai: Son of the Marathi actor-director Atmaram Bhende and Dr Asha Bhende (Lily Ezekiel), Nandu Bhende breathed his last on 11th April, Friday morning. His birthname was Sadanand Atmaram Bhende and frontman of seventies rock bands from Mumbai such as Savage Encounter and Velvette Fogg, passes away at 58.

In the 1980s he was a playback singer in the Bollywood film “Disco Dancer” for which he received a Gold Disc. His maternal uncle is Nissim Ezekiel. Bhende has sung playback for Hindi films for music directors such as R.D Burman, Laxmikant Pyarelal and Bappi Lahiri.
