Hyderabad: College owners who stumped seasoned politicians when they bagged major Assembly and Lok Sabha seats from all the parties are now banking on their own “student power” to win the elections. They are engaging politically active students to campaign and conduct survey for them. Sources said, even they are offering sops of fee concessions and free admissions for vote.
The list includes TD’s C. Malla Reddy, chairman of Malla Reddy Group of Institutions, TRS’ Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, chairman of Anurag Group, Congress’ T. Rammohan Reddy, chairman of TRR Group, Congress’ A. Maheshwar Reddy, chairman of Maheshwara Group, TRS’ K.C. Shekar Reddy, chairman of Scient Engineering College etc.
While parties are confident of the goodwill of these college owners, the candidates too do not face any crunch of campaigners like political leaders. And surveys by their students only reveal that they are on an edge over other candidates.
“We have conducted a survey in Malkajgiri LS constituency after classes and found out our chairman, Mr Malla Reddy, has maximum winning chances due to his association with educational institutions,” said P. Anirudh, a management student of the college.
P. Rajeshwar Reddy, chairman of Anurag Group said, he too decided to join poll fray based on students’ survey.
