Rebels threat to parties, in fray as independents
Few leaders upset for not getting tickets, filed nominations as Independents
Hyderabad: Upset with the selection of candidates, several leaders from the Congress, the TRS, the TD and the BJP filed nominations as Independents.
Prominent among them were Warangal and Adilabad district Congress presidents Donti Madhava Reddy, and C. Ramachandra Reddy who filed their nominations from Narsampet and Adilabad Assembly segments respectively.
Madhava Reddy’s name was cleared and announced as official nominee for Narsampet Assembly but the Congress high command changed the nomination in favour of Katti Venkataswamy to accomdate a JAC leader. Peeved by this Mr Madhava Reddy filed as an Independent on Wednesday.
Similarly, former minister and Adilabad district Congress Committee president C. Ramachandra Reddy was denied ticket to accomodate former NSUI president Bhargav Deshpande.
Other rebels who filed nominations against the party’s official nominees include former MLA Geetla Mukunda Reddy (Pedapalli), Ravinder Reddy (Huzurabad) Juvvadi Narasinga Rao (Karimnagar), former MLA Malreddy Rangareddy (Maheswaram), M. Krishnarao (Malkajagiri), former TRS minister (who joined the Congress) A. Chandrasekhar (Vikarabad), former MLA Repala Srinivas (Miryalaguda), Congress sitting MLA Balu Naik (Devarakonda), Palvai Sravanthi Reddy (Munugode), former MP A. Indra Karan Reddy (Nirmal), former MLA Koneru Konappa (Sirpur), Krishank (Secunderabad Cantonment), minister Mukhesh Gowd’s son Vikram Gowd (Musheerabad), Chilumula Shanker, former MLA Sridevi (Bellampally), D. Srinivas (Chennur), Tandu Srinivas Yadav, R. Ramesh Reddy (Suryapet), Chintala Venkateswara Reddy (Bhongir), Gudipati Narasaiah (Tungaturthy), Konderi Mallaiah (Nakrekal), Tandu Srinivasa Yadav (Kodada).
BJP candidates will face rebels like former MLA Sankineni Venkateswara Rao (Suryapet), Arjun Reddy (Ibrahimpatnam), Vijender Reddy (Karimnagar), C. Anjireddy (Patancheru) Leela Rani (Asifabad) and Om Prakash Ladda (Mudhole).
TRS chief KCR who will contest from Medak to the LS will face a party rebel. Beraiah Yadav, who was denied nomination in the ZPTC polls filed as an Independent.
M. Samuel (Tungaturthy), Satyanarayana (L B Nagar), Balaraj (Nakrekal), Laxmi Narender Reddy (Narsapur), former MLA Palvai Rajya Laxmi (Sirpur), Vatti Gattiah (Mancheriyal), Vijaylaxmi Chowhan (Khanapur), Ramulu Naik (Boath), Chakilam Anil Kumar (Nalgonda), Sunkari Settaiah (Alair), Srinivasa Raju (Nagarjuna Sagar) also filed papers as rebels.
