Chennai: A 22-year-old bride disappeared hours before her wedding in Kancheepuram Wednesday morning and returned with her lover the same evening to tell the police she didn’t want to marry the groom chosen by her parents.
An employee of an export firm, Nagamma, attended the reception Tuesday evening , but relatives found her missing when they went to ready her for the wedding at around 4 am. She was to marry Kamalakannan, a mechanic from Sriperumbadur in an early morning ceremony. The embarrassed family called off the wedding and Nagamma later turned up at the police station with her employer, Vijayakumar, saying he was the man of her dreams.
