Shankar Rao for CBI probe on allocation of tickets
Hyderabad: Former minister and sitting MLA P. Shankar Rao is a changed man. His loyalty to the high command and his deciision to construct a temple for AICC president Sonia Gandhi for granting Telangana state did not help him get a nomination in the Assembly polls.
Mr Rao had expected the party to filed his daughter. But the party disappointed both of them, forcing Mr Rao to demand a CBI probe into the ticket distribution in state Congress.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, he alleged that Telangana PCC president Ponnala Laxmaiah sold party tickets under the guidance of Rajya Sabha member K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao. He said Mr Lakshmaiah and Mr Rao denied ticket to him because of his
fight against misuse of funds and corruption under the Jalayagnam scheme.
Mr Shankar Rao said he is a strong Congress loyalist and will not leave the Congress.
The former minister said he will wait until Wednesday for the party ticket or else will contest as an independent candidate from the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly seat, which has been allotted to Telangana JAC leader Gajjala Kantham.
