Hyderabad: TDP, Jai Samaikyandhra Lok Sabha candidates attacked
Hyderabad: TDP candidate for L B Nagar Assembly constituency, R Krishnaiah's car was attacked on Wednesday allegedly by a group of followers of party's local aspirants who were denied tickets for the elections, police said.
The car was pelted with stones by the followers who also threw a coconut on it which resulted in the front wind-shield getting damaged as Krishnaiah was proceeding to file his nomination papers, they said.
"Neither Krishnaiah nor any one else was injured in the incident. We have registered a case in connection with the incident and further probe is on," Deputy Commissioner of Police (L B Nagar Zone), P Viswa Prasad told PTI, adding that they have identified the attackers.
Krishnaiah, a BC leader, joined the TDP recently and considers himself the chief ministerial candidate from the party. However, some local TDP leaders and their followers accuse that a non-local was given a ticket while the local aspirants were denied tickets to contest the polls.
Disheartened over the same, they attacked Krishnaiah's car.
"The protesters were dispersed. Krishnaiah subsequently filed his nomination papers," the DCP said.
In another incident, Jai Samaikyandhra Party candidate for Khammam Lok Sabha seat, Nagarjuna Rao was allegedly attacked by TRS activists after the former reportedly instigated them with his remarks in Madhira town of Khammam while enroute to filing his nomination papers, another police official said.
"The TRS activists threw stones on Rao's car breaking its wind-screen and causing minor injuries to Rao. He later filed his nomination papers," she said.
Meanwhile, the TDP office in Nalgonda town was ransacked by supporters of aggrieved aspirants of the party reportedly resenting over BJP-TDP seat sharing agreement.
