Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple land sold to nine people

Housing society official sold Rs 3.14 Cr Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple land

Hyderabad: A Vigilance and Enforcement report has revealed a land scam in the Endowments department involving Annap-urna Cooperative Housing Society officials.

The report states that part of the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple land in Malkajgiri was encroached upon and sold illegally. Vigilance has accused S. Bhadraiah, the vice-president of the Annapurna Housing Society, stating that Rs 3.14 crore worth of government land was sold illegally to nine persons.

The department has also recommended action against Town Planning officials and cancelling the building permission on government land. Misappropriation was found regarding 13 guntas of land. As per the Revenue records, an extent of 17 acre, 19 guntas in survey number 844/16 of Malkajgiri is in the name of Jayagiri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy temple out of which 8 acre was alienated by the Endowment department to the Annapurna Cooperative Housing society in 1982.

The Vigilance report stated, “S. Bhadraiah manipulated the layout with 108 plots and also prepared fictitious layout by assigning more number of plots. He has unauthorisedly registered the plots in the capacity of vice-president though not competent. The then president, E. Rama Rao, of the society made a statement that Mr Bhadraiah has executed unauthorised registration of plots to his son and non members.

Malkajgiri Revenue officials found that 1462 square yards of endowment land on the south side abutting Aannapurna society land was encroached. The JLNS temple authorities issued notice to Bhadraiah and objected to the construction of a three-storied building.”

The Vigilance report asked the Home department to instruct the Cyberabad police commissioner to prosecute Mr Bhadraiah for selling Rs 3.14 crore worth of land to nine persons for wrongful gains. The report also sought action against sub registrar R. Srinivasa Rao and to cancel the registrations made by Mr Bhadraiah as he did not have rights over the land he had registered.

It also recommended action against Town Planning officer B. Prabhakar Reddy and Town Planning supervisor Mohammed Amjad Ali and to cancel the building permission.
