Will extend hand to those against communalism: Karunanidhi
Salem: In a veiled hint at supporting a Congress-led government, DMK chief M Karunanidhi said his party will extend a hand to those who are against communalism and support minority communities.
"DMK will welcome whoever gives a hand (Congress symbol) to support minority communities and are against communalism," Karunanidhi said at an election meeting on Monday.
Attacking Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, he said she was facing a disproportionate assets case in a Bangalore court.
"The proceedings are being dragged on and today the Supreme Court had granted a stay."
The apex court stayed for three weeks the day-to-day trial in the 18-year-old Rs 66.65-crore disproportionate assets case against Jayalalithaa by allowing the plea of the Special
Public Prosecutor (SPP) who has to undergo medical treatment.
"The case has been adjourned a hundred times," he alleged. Karunanidhi also alleged law and order in the state were in shambles.
Appealing to the people to vote for the DMK-led front, the DMK chief introduced the front's candidates at Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Kallakurichi.
