Dutch government to pay Microsoft to extend its support for the 13-year-old OS till 2015

The Dutch government has signed a euro 7 million deal with Microsoft for extending the support on Windows XP.

Windows XP will be officially pronounced dead tomorrow, but the Dutch government’s euro 7 million deal states that Microsoft has been officially asked to extend its support to them for another year.

DutchNews also highlighted that almost 34,000 to 40,000 PCs are still using Windows XP, and most of these PCs are employed with national government civil servants. Most of these PCs will be switched to a higher operating system by January next year.
