New Delhi: Shooter Heena Sidhu on Sunday became the top ranked player in the world in the 10 metres air pistol women’s category as per the latest International Shooting Sport Federation rankings.Heena scaled the summit of the world rankings by virtue of her consistent medal winning performances over the last year.
The Punjab girl shot a world record score to clinch the gold medal in the World Cup final at Munich, Germany, in November 2013. She carried her top form into 2014 by winning the gold medal in the Asian Air gun championship in Kuwait lst month. Heena also secured a silver medal in the recent ISSF rifle/pistol World Cup at Fort Benning, USA.
“I am really happy to be the world number 1. I have worked really hard all these years to make this happen. I must thank my husband Ronak who has been my strength and support and my coach Anatoly,” Heena said.
