BJP gets North Visakha LS, Assembly goes to the TD
Visakhapatnam: The BJP will be getting the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha and Visakha North Assembly constituency under the alliance with the TD, in Vizag district. But the party has a tough task on its hands to choose a winning horse as there are aspirants galore for Visakha North Assembly constituency.
BJP party sources said that around 10 leaders in the party is eyeing this constituency and BJP is likely to allot Vizag North Assembly seat for the candidate from Kapu community, who besides being a senior and dedicated leader in the party, is a segment with majority of the voters from the same community.
Sources said that though the BJP is claiming that people won’t go by caste consideration, as BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi’s wave was sweeping across the nation, the party leaders will announce the candidate for Visakha North Assembly segment by considering all the aspects, including caste- base voters, to win in the constituency.
Explaining the reason for demanding Vizag North Assembly segment, city president of the BJP, P.V. Narayana Rao said their cadre was strong in North segment and there is large number of educated urban voters, and these factors definitely will help the BJP to win. The BJP’s Seemandhra president, K. Hari Babu, is likely to contest for Visakha parliamentary constituency.
As per the seat-sharing arrangement between BJP and TDP, the BJP will be contesting in 5 Lok Sabha seats and 15 Assembly seats in Seemandhra, though the BJP leaders of Vizag demanded Visakha South Constituency.
