Four American brands to enter India in the fiscal

In May this year, Great American Cookies, Forever Yogurt and Quiznos will open their stores to the Indian public

Bengaluru : Buoyed by the success of American fast food brands like McDonald’s, KFC, Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Subway in India, many more all American brands are lining up to stage an entry in the food service business, that is growing rapidly.

In May this year, the Atlanta headquartered Great American Cookies, Chicago based, Forever Yogurt and Denver headquartered sandwich brand, Quiznos will open their stores to the Indian public in Kolkata and Delhi followed by Bengaluru later this year. American hamburger restaurant chain, Burger King which is currently in the process of setting up a supply chain in India will also open its first stores by June this year.

“Great American Cookies is an innovator and is the home of the original cookie cake. Recently, we received an order for 1,000 cookie cakes which will serve as wedding invitations by a businessman in Kolkata, who lived in Atlanta previously and has now moved back to India” said Deval Tibrewalla, CEO of Polo Towers Group. The Group has been awarded the Master Franchisee rights for Great American Cookies, Forever Yogurt and Quiznos, in India.

Great American Cookies offers fresh baked cookies, brownies and other treats, has a proven track record with stores in over 300 locations. “As Indians are getting increasingly health conscious and opting for flavoured yogurts with fruit toppings instead of icecreams, Forever Yogurt will be the first brand to introduce a self serve, pay per weight option in a largely preserve marketplace, making it more affordable and personalized to individual tastes. We will start with 60 flavours and 60 different toppings” said Mr Deval.

Quiznos will have to take on the popularity of Subway, which has become a popular meal option for working professionals in the country today. “Quiznos’ speciality lies in the fact that it offers Chef inspired sandwiches that will be regularly introduced as well as toasted, (not baked) thin crust pizzas” said Mr Deval
