Apple to declare 'Holy War' on Google; concerns revealed over Samsung's success

Apple's competition with Google and its Android operating system is a 'Holy War'

April 6,2014: According to a document that was presented in the Federal Court for the Apple versus Samsung patent trial , ‘The competition with Google and its Android operating system for smartphones and tablets wasn’t merely business rivalry, it was a ‘holy war’.' This in fact indicates that Apple officials had serious concerns about the iPhone's competitive position regarding the growing popularity of Android smartphones.

'Google and Microsoft have developed a new technology to connect and synchronize contacts, calendars, photos, music, videos and bookmarks across all devices using online services. Due to this, Apple is in danger of hanging on to old paradigm for too long,’ highlighted Jobs.

'This e-mail arrived at a time when Steve Jobs observed that Google, once a key Apple partner for the iPhone, was becoming a feared competitor with its Android operating system,' as reported by Digits. By licensing Android for free, Google also developed software for most of Apple’s main smartphone and tablet manufacturing rivals.

Official reports also stated, ‘Other concerns noted in the document included the idea that Android rivals were spending ‘obscene’ amounts of money on advertising and/or carrier channel to gain traction and that mobile carriers had an interest in limiting iPhone sales because of, among other things, the high subsidies they had to pay on the device.’

Mashable also reported that ‘Other internal Apple documents presented during Samsung's cross-examination of Schiller indicate that Apple's view of the market saw growth in larger-screen smartphones (or phablets) priced above $300, as well as devices priced below the $300 mark.’

Apple is also upset about its advertising in early 2013 and will soon be considering another ad agency to bring out creative ads, thus boosting its sales in the near future.
