Australia put up an impressive all-round display to defeat England by six wickets
Mirpur: Australia put up an impressive all-round display to defeat England in the final by six wickets for a third consecutive title at the Women's World Twenty20 on Sunday.
Put into bat, England was restricted to a moderate 105-8. In reply, Australia comfortably scored 106-4 in only 15.1 overs.
Australia, which beat the West Indies by eight runs in a close semifinal match, took firm control in the middle part of the innings with captain Meg Lanning smashing a 30-ball 44 with four fours and two sixes.
England had an impressive nine-wicket win over South Africa in the semifinals but faltered against the Australian seam attack.
Heather Knight top scored with 29 but her work was not backed by others. Earlier, seam bowler Sarah Coyte grabbed 3-16 to help restrict England.
