Telengana BJP against tie-up with TDP, wants to fight alone
Hyderabad: Even as the talks for a pre-poll tie-up between the BJP and the Telugu Desam are underway, leaders of the Telangana BJP have raised a banner of revolt against the party’s alliance with the TDP.
BJP presidents of 11 units in Telangana met at the party office and moved a resolution opposing the alliance with the TDP in the ensuing Assembly and Lok Sabha polls. It also urged the party Central leadership to go it alone.
They also warned of “serious consequences” if the party ignores their plea. Some even threatened to quit the party since many leaders feel they lose a chance to contest.
BJP leaders including B. Venkat Reddy handed over a copy of the resolution to party spokesman Prakash Javadekar who is in the city to finalise the BJP-TDP alliance in consultation with Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy and other leaders like E. Laxminarayana, Bandaru Dattatreya and others.
Mr Javadekar, who held talks with party leaders at a star hotel in Begumpet, promised to bring the issue to the notice of party president Rajnath Singh.
“He assured us that no decision on alliance will be taken by the party without informing Telangana leaders,” Mr Venkat Reddy told this newspaper.
“The TDP has lost all credibility in Telangana. They don’t have candidates to contest MPTC/ZPTC polls leave alone Parliament and Assembly elections,” the resolution said.
