Elections 2014:BJP puts off its minority ‘vision’
New Delhi: The BJP, being accused of trying to polarise the vote bank along communal lines, has reportedly deferred the release of its much-hyped “Vision Document to Empower Minorities”.
This document was to be released before or along with the party’s election manifesto. The document apparently promised social uplift of the minority communities in fields ranging from education to political participation.
Though the document contains no specific apology for the 2002 Gujarat riots, it has, however, recorded the history of communal clashes from 1955 to 1997.
The minority vision document was initially planned to prevent the consolidation of the Muslim vote bank in favour of its arch-rival, the Congress party. However, sensing that the Muslims will go in for “strategic voting” and the BJP will attract a large chunk of the majority community, including OBCs, the party has reportedly deferred the release of the document.
